Work Capacity Assessment
Work Capacity Assessments assess an
individual’s
capacities in
relation to
job
requirements. It is done by
measuring physical and
vocational capacities to define an individual’s best work
options, and aligning these with the local labour market to
determine appropriate employment prospects.
The three
components of the Assessment include a Functional Capacity
Evaluation, a Vocational Assessment and a Labour Market
Analysis. These assessments are conducted by qualified and
experienced Assessors.
The Functional Capacity Evaluation is a
physical evaluation which helps to determine physical work
abilities and limitations.
The evaluation is administered by a qualified
Occupational Therapist.
It involves tasks such as lifting, carrying, walking,
standing and working in different postures.
The Vocational Assessment will assist in
determining employment options that are realistic and viable in
terms of current work abilities and limitations as determined
during the Functional Capacity Evaluation, as well as
considering transferable skills, aptitudes and interests.
The Labour Market Analysis provides
detailed information on the prospects for employment in specific
jobs in the national, regional and local labour markets. It
utilises reliable statistical data gained from sources including
government and regional authorities, as well as employment
information obtained through local research.
