Home Assessment
A Home Assessment analyses a person’s requirements for assistance in and around the home following injury or while recovering from surgery. The assessment provides recommendations regarding aids, equipment and home modifications.

- To help prevent aggravation of injury by providing assistance with critical tasks around the home such as cleaning, garden care and washing.
- To provide an independent assessment of a person’s requirements for assistance around the home.
Activities of Daily Living Assessment (ADL)
An ADL is an assessment of an injured individual’s abilities to safely undertake the full range of home-based tasks to fulfil personal self-care and domestic activities. Performed by an Occupational Therapist, the assessment occurs at the injured worker’s home and determines if any aids, modifications or home care assistance is necessary for the individual.
Why Refer?
- To assess an individual’s capacity to complete activities of daily living and determine the level of assistance required to manage any temporary limitations.
- To provide external assistance during the important initial stages of recovery from injury, illness or surgery in order to allow an individual to focus on their physical rehabilitation program.
Ergonomics Training
Axis Injury Management provides ergonomics training designed to help employees understand the importance of correct ergonomics in the prevention of injury and assist them to apply ergonomic principles in the set-up and maintenance of their workstation. It covers the key areas including: anatomy, posture and biomechanics of injuries; workstation hazards; workstation ergonomic assessments and set-up; work fitness and pause stretch exercises.
Ergonomics training is tailored to be delivered on-site. Our experienced trainers will work with you to develop a program specifically for your workplace. This can include undertaking a workplace assessment to identify areas of risk and designing training to use practical examples and case studies relevant to the participants’ work and work environment.
Ergonomics training is conducted by our qualified occupational therapists, physiotherapists or ergonomists to assist employers and employees to ensure that their workplace is appropriately designed to reduce the risk of injury or aggravation, and to maximise the productivity of the workplace.
Training is usually conducted over 1.5 to 2 hours, but we can reduce or extend the course duration to meet your requirements.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (WorkHab)
A Functional Capacity Evaluation is an objective measure of the functional abilities of an individual in both the home and work environment. It assesses a client’s range of physical skills and capabilities and identifies limitations and potential barriers to returning the client to the workplace. Axis Injury Management uses the WorkHab system of assessment which provides an objective understanding of an individual’s work capacities.
The Nominated Treating Doctor consent is required before the Assessment is undertaken to ensure a holistic Assessment of the individual’s status.
Why Refer?
- To determine if a worker’s physical capabilities match the demands of a specific job or list of duties.
- To help guide employment decisions.
- To generate accurate information regarding the effect of injury or disability on an individual’s functional abilities.
